Scott moved to Cumbria in 1990 and set up Hyde Harrington with Tony Hyde in 1994. Scott is a chartered building surveyor and is principally involved in de-risking projects for clients and co-ordinating all designs, specifications, contract procurement and management of construction projects from a client's initial ideas through to handing the keys over on completion.
Scott is also regularly recommended by the courts as expert witness in dealing with building disputes, boundary disputes and other similar matters, having acted in well over a thousand disputes since moving to Cumbria. Twice having been chairman of the North West regional branch of The Pyramus and Thisbe Club, the long established organisation that helped draft the latest party wall legislation, Scott has acted in several hundred party wall disputes since the Act was extended to cover the remainder of England and Wales in the mid 1990s.
Away from the office, Scott is a keen golfer and enjoys walking in the Lake District.

Paul became a Member of the RICS in 1998 after studying Estate Management in Birmingham. After a period of time spent working in private practice and the more specialised field of telecommunications, Paul relocated with his family to Cumbria in 2010 to establish the Kendal office of Hyde Harrington following which Paul became a Director of Hyde Harrington in 2013.
Paul is involved with all aspects of commercial property surveying including private and local authority valuation work, agency sales, lettings and acquisitions and providing advice on landlord and tenant matters such as lease renewals and rent reviews.
Away from the office Paul has an almost obsessive interest in cycling and can be often found trying not to get himself lost on the local fells or attempting to ‘bag’ the local passes.
Alice Kean

Alice was born in Carlisle and has worked in various roles within the financial sector. She joined Hyde Harrington as an Accounts Manager in July 2021 after studying for her AAT qualifications at Carlisle College.
Alice supports the Carlisle office 3 days a week whilst balancing life as a Mum to her 6-year-old daughter and 2 cats.
Outside of work, Alice is a trying pianist, enjoys keeping fit in the gym and is also a keen fell walker with plans to complete the Wainwrights over the next 2 years.

Angus has a BA (Hons) in Town and Country Planning, an MSc in Architectural Conservation, and a Masters in Business Administration. He has been a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute since 1990.
Angus moved to Carlisle in 1991 and has nearly 30 years of experience covering all types of development and aspects of the process whilst working for North Somerset District Council and Carlisle City Council. This experience includes the preparation of policy documents and associated legal agreements as well as appearing as a witness at Public Inquiries or an advocate at Hearings.
Needless to say, Angus is delighted to be a recent addition to Hyde Harrington.
Outside of work, he enjoys family life; sport; music; reading; and walking Dylan the family dog.

Caroline is from Kendal and attended school and college locally before joining Kendal based firm of solicitors, Milne Moser. From there she joined Hyde Harrington when the Kendal office opened in 2010.
Caroline’s role has progressed over the years and she now assists with the commercial property agency. Supporting Paul Evans, Caroline helps clients with their property requirements from assisting at viewings, negotiating terms and corresponding with parties to finalise matters. She is also responsible for general administration of the Kendal office.
Caroline is a keen runner in her spare time, and recently completed her first half marathon. She has two young children who she says have a better social life than herself, she is therefore also kept very busy with their activities.

Gavin joined Hyde Harrington in 2018 after graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University with a First Class Honours degree in Building Surveying. Gavin supports the building surveying team in the Carlisle office on a range of instructions. He will also be working towards his RICS Assessment of Professional Competence. Gavin currently lives in Dumfries with his family. He is a long-suffering York City supporter, an active runner in the Dumfries Harriers running club and regular walker of his two Jack Russells.

Gina has 30 years’ experience as a Property Management Accountant, dealing with all aspects of rent collection and service charge administration for clients’ properties
Gina was born in London and worked the early part of her career for various London firms of Chartered Surveyors before relocating to Cumbria in 2000 with her husband.
Gina is based in our Kendal Office and works alongside Paul Evans in the Property Management department.

John joined Telford Hart Associates in 1986 training as a quantity surveyor. He studied part time and graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 1995 with a degree in Quantity Surveying. He joined Hyde Harrington in 2016 in their Kendal office.
John specialises in the pre-construction measurement of projects, developing new methods and computerised systems as required for individual projects. He has worked on projects ranging in size from small residential developments to supermarkets, hospitals and some of the largest buildings in the world.
Outside of work, John is kept busy by his young family and extensive DIY projects.

Kathleen lives on the family hill farm near Haltwhistle.
Graduated from Newcastle University gaining a BSc. with Honours in Agricultural Zoology.
Kathleen has worked for Barclays Bank and the Cumberland Building Society in the past as well as acting as secretary for the business at home.
Kathleen joined Hyde Harrington on a part time basis in October 2009 in an administration role.
Any spare time is filled being unpaid groom and lorry driver for her daughter who is a keen showjumper.

Trevor is originally from Preston, Lancashire and studied for his degree at Liverpool Polytechnic. He qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1987. He has worked in both the public and private sectors in the UK together with stints in Dubai and Doha.
Trevor is experienced in all aspects of Quantity Surveying including cost planning, tender procurement, contract management and the negotiation of Final Accounts. He is also familiar with carrying out the role of Employer’s Agent and liaising closely with Clients.
Outside of the office, he enjoys taking advantage of living in the Lake District by tramping the fells and attempting to birdwatch.

Ray is originally from Newcastle upon Tyne where he studied Quantity Surveying at Newcastle Polytechnic and qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1974. He worked in Newcastle from 1973-1983 then moved to Carlisle, joining Telford Hart Associates, becoming a partner in 1991, a Fellow of the RICS in 1987 and retiring in early 2016.
He joined Hyde Harrington as a Consultant in October 2016.
Ray’s lengthy experience in the construction industry has involved all aspects of building cost consultancy, in the UK and Middle East. Concentrating on Feasibility Studies, detailed measured Cost Planning, Whole Life Building Costings, Contract Administration and Employer’s Agent duties.
He has an interest in all sports, walking the dog (to the pub) and is an aged motor biker, which keeps him busy outside the working environment.

Elizabeth was born and educated in Carlisle. She joined Hyde Harrington in April 1999 and has undertaken various administrative roles over the years.
Gordon Turnbull

Gordon is a chartered quantity surveyor, an associate member of the Institute of Arbitrators as well as an incorporate member of the Association for Project Safety. He has also a wide range of experience in building surveying, Construction Design Management (CDM), acting as a Principal Designer and all aspects of construction work.
Having moved from a well-established firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors in Newcastle Upon Tyne to Cumbria in 1984 he has worked for both private firms and construction companies and as a consultant to Hyde Harrington for over 15 years.
Gordon has worked on a variety of projects both new and refurbishment throughout the United Kingdom which have included listed and historic buildings.
He has also worked as a contracts manager for a construction company and as contract administrator on various projects.
He also acts as expert witness in construction disputes as both a single and joint expert in particular cases where the dispute relates to quantum.
Away from the office Gordon enjoys spending time with his family and generally has an interest in all sports.
