Hyde Harrington are privileged to be retained associate surveyors for The National Trust advising and managing many projects throughout the county, including Troutbeck Park Farm in which the Trust invested £340,000 refurbishing the farmhouse, adjacent cottage and several of the dilapidated barn buildings. The farm was formerly owned by Beatrix Potter and is of particular importance to the National Trust due to the history and time that she spent there (The ‘Green Room’ being understood to be one of her writing rooms).
Hyde Harrington provided building surveying advice and contract administration and managed the project to allow the new tenant to take occupation prior to Christmas 2017. The works were sympathetic and in keeping with the traditional building fabric due to the vernacular nature of the construction, importance of the farm buildings in the Lake District landscape and also the history of the site. John Lambert (North West) Ltd undertook the building work.
